DeWalt the original company was started in 1923 by Raymond E. DeWalt. Raymond E. DeWalt was the inventor of the radial arm saw. From much success the company grew quickly and was reorganized and re incorporated in 1947 as DeWalt Inc. The company was then sold to Black & Decker in 1960. Black & Decker diverted itself off the radial arm saw manufacturing branch in 1989, using the original DeWalt Radial arm saws design.
In 1992, Black & Decker started a major effort to re brand its professional quality and high end power tools to DeWalt. From this major re brand of DeWalt the company diversified in many of the products they had to offer. They eventually brought a clothing and footwear range. As the brand expanded their high quality equipment became more and more well known, DeWalt clothing and footwear was perfected. DeWalt safety footwear is highly recognized and is the chosen brand for many tradesmen of today.
