In order to go forward, you need to know where you have been…
To understand your wardrobe you need to strip back things to basics, sift through all those funky patterned t-shirts and shirts and find that pearly pristine white t-shirt that is just sitting at the bottom of the pile. The white t-shirt an essential part of any wardrobe and represents icons of the past. Looking back at the history books it became clear that the white t-shirt was a statement piece even in it’s simplicity it truly became iconic.
The rebel generation such as James dean, Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Chet baker, Bruce Springsteen all represented a lifestyle and created a sub culture of clean cut faces, brushed back hair, smoldering eyes with a bad boy attitude with a deep down gentleman inside for the ladies, pure icons of their time, but the true icon was the Original white t-shirt.
Grease is the word!!! When Danny Zuko( John Travolta) stared in Grease, with his handsome looks and leather jackets, the real hero was the white t-shirt, never forget that, it complemented the whole film and become an icon.
Throughout the years the white t-shirt has made its way through the decades and has kept your clothes company, no matter where you are or where you’ve been.
My personal preference for wearing a white t-shirt comes from the Hip Hop tattooed sub culture. Coming from America the oversized classic white t-shirt worn by rappers and tattoo cultures in LA and parts of South American, Mexican and Latino locations. Being entwined with other garments such as Large dickies trousers/shorts white socks, brilliant white Air force ones made this a great combination, the simplicity complements and accentuates those tattoos people have spent a lot of money on, and genuinely another iconic look for another generation.
So… I know you have a white t-shirt at home, get it out iron, it wear it, make another generation proud or if its lost it’s brilliant white colour follow the link below and purchase an Original T-shirt for that classic look.

Or as Dave Lee Roth of the mighty Van Halen once said “ if you don’t look good in a plain white t shirt, you ain’t ever gonna look good”. A classic, simple article, much like the iconic garment itself.
