And so the January sales keep on going….
No matter if there is a pandemic, retailers have been making huge efforts to keep this British tradition alive. Through the history books for over a century, the Brits have been getting out of bed early, queuing in front of their favorite stores and picking up all those important sale items that retailers have reduced to entice customers back instore or online. It may seem like we live in a different world to those in the 1900’s,1950’s or even 2000’s but the January sales is still a main part of retails way to give back to all. In the archives it turns out that people will almost do anything for a bargain, with queues round the corner, fights and brawls spilling out onto the streets, pushing shoving and out right ruthlessness to get in front. Even with our beloved internet, there is still evidence that high street January sale instore can bring great opportunities for all. Sometimes sitting at home with a tea waiting for online sales of the garments you’ve had an eye on in your watchlist can also have it’s pit falls. Once that item you’ve longed for gets reduced it’s all systems go…But due to small stock levels being held through a pandemic especially, you add to basket and the item is now out of stock, you weren’t quick enough, someone else got in there first, sad times… Our advice would be to take a nice walk, get some fresh air, go out to your favorite stores, Wear your mask and using hand sanitizer to be safe, and ask the retail assistant for those items you’ve wanted, they will give you the customer service you need to find your items, as most large stores will tend to keep instore products separate from their online store to avoid disappointment on both parts, this way you have more of a chance of getting the right product, size, colour etc. on the day rather than waiting a week for you to get your item. Another benefit can also be to try on instore which will also save on postage if you weren’t sure. Also some retailers will have items that have not been loaded to their online stores and you can pick up some great pieces that most people won’t have, it’s a good way to keep being unique. It’s genuinely a WIN WIN situation.
Retail has changed slightly over the last 2 years due to the pandemic but the concept of the January sales hasn’t, retailers still offer you a chance to pick up a bargain so be part of the British tradition and help maintain that great foundation of the high street.
