1974
HI-TEC sports WAs founded in the village of Shoeburyness England by Frank Van Wezel. Franks love for sport helped him create innovative lightweight, comfortable squash shoes.
1978
HI-TEC was then established in the USA with the worlds first lightweight hiking boot which was called the Sierra sneaker, technically a sports shoe for the mountains.
1981
The Silver Shadow was launched to give the running world a great way to conquer the marathons with over 23% of runners sporting them during that year.
1982
The Magnum brand is born. Following the high demand from the FBI for HI-TEC to produce footwear with great athletic properties that would be comfortable and suitable with uniforms.
1988
HI-TEC was floated on the London stock exchange and become a public limited company.
1990
The Altitude IV becomes the NO.1 hiking boot in the US.
1992
In the first season of the English Premier league the Kings cup boots featured on 52 of the best players within the league.
1995
HI-TEC becomes the official shoe of the Wimbledon tennis Championships.
1996
Combining sports and outdoor hiking they created an event in the US that put the competitors & footwear to the test in a race environment with numerous tasks.
2000
Frank privatizes the company and still is a wholly family business.
2007
With the first game improvement performance golf shoe, Padraig Harrington wins 3 major championships whilst wearing the CDT HI-TEC shoe.
2010
HI-TEC goes viral with their Liquid mountaineering video with more than 15million views.
2011
HI-TEC win @ the creativity awards with the the Cannes lions award, and Franks Son Ed Van Wezel becomes CEO.
2013
HI-TEC wins footwear product of the year @ the great outdoor awards and with the Zuuk shoe the also win brand of the year.
2014
Being the 40th anniversary they debut the Classic 74 based on the original squash shoe. HI-TEC also become official sponsors of ‘the walk of the worlds’ in the Netherlands.
2015
HI-TEC sponsored Nick Mathew and received an OBE from Princess Anne.
2020/2021
2022
Still growing and going strong with HI-TEC generating hundreds of millions in global sales and distribution up to and over 85 countries.
